Bring your violin, viola,  or cello, and its bow to the shop,  and we will do our best to identify it and give it an approximate value.  It is not possible to give an opinion without actually seeing and handling the instrument,  as descriptions and photos do not give enough information,  and labels are quite often inaccurate or deceptive. In the violin world, value is based on origin and condition,  not on sound; as tone is a matter of personal taste. Please be aware that in some cases, despite extensive experience and a good reference library,  it is not possible to be certain about origin and value.

Again, the instrument must be present in the shop for inspection. This service is primarily intended to give you an appraisal sufficient to insure your instrument and bow, complete with a detailed description,  measurements,  and a statement of condition.  The charge for this service is $100. However, when you purchase an instrument from us, we will provide a written appraisal free of charge.
